"When clay is your medium it is hard not to make objects that serve a utilitarian purpose. Using hand-made objects every day is a mantra of mine in the classroom and in my own home." --Angel Allen Drawing from a degree in fine art, twenty-four years experience as a business owner and fine art craftsman and twelve years as an art teacher, Angel Allen says "the lure of learning never stops". From the studio to the classroom, it is her perpetual quest to find the truth in the art she produces and the art that she teaches. Strongly influenced by her relationship with family, time spent outdoors and the myriad shapes, colors, and textures formed from the rhythms of daily life, Angel Allen continues to create one-of-kind art pieces for individuals and communities. The functional pieces in the collection available at Sandpiper and Dare Gallery are all made using stoneware and fired to cone 5.
